The Municipality of Cernusco Lombardone celebrates the Giornata dell'Unità Nazionale e delle Forze Armate on Sunday 1 November 2026 with a ceremony in memory of the fallen and of all those who served Italy. The day pays tribute to the Armed Forces and to the women and men who continue to serve the country. This year marks the 105th anniversary of the entombment of the Unknown Soldier at the Altare della Patria, which took place on 4 November 1921, a symbol of the memory of the fallen in war who remained unnamed. The programme begins at 10.30 with Holy Mass, followed by a procession to the Monument to the Fallen. The flag-raising, the National Anthem and the laying of a laurel wreath are planned, as well as the unveiling of a plaque in honour of Gabriele Moreno Locatelli. The ceremony is organised by the Municipality with the Associazione culturale Punto Rosso and ends with a refreshment offered by the Gruppo Alpini.
